How Do Virus Removers Work in Getting Rid of Viruses From Our System?

We all use antivirus to prevent our computer systems from getting infected by any malicious program. It is mainly used to scan files that are suspicious and harmful. It is a very good idea to understand the functionality of an antivirus program. Here’s a low down on how do virus removers work. Most of the conventional antivirus tools work on two basic techniques. The first technique is the regular function of antivirus software that is, scanning files to detect known viruses. This is done with the help of virus definitions installed in the system when the antivirus is installed which helps it to find known virus. The second basic technique is determining suspicious behavior or activities that are recorded within the system. Most of the competent antivirus software works on both the above mentioned techniques.

In the first type of technique in which the software uses virus definition, it looks for matching codes in the computer. This method of virus removers’ work in such a way that it tries to find out any malicious code present in the computer that match with the pre-defined virus definition of the antivirus. Once a match is found, the antivirus will show notification on the screen or terminates the infections by itself. It may also quarantine the virus so that no other files in the computer can access this quarantined file and get infected with the virus.

The second approach that is the suspicious activity determining approach of the virus removers does not actually intend to search for existing infected files but in contrast it stops any suspicious program from performing malicious activities. For example, any program that tries to manipulate with .exe files is considered as malicious action. Any such activity is notified by antivirus software and asks for appropriate action to handle the error. Such antivirus software is very useful to keep your computer working fluently. You can set the scanning schedule for these tools so that it may start the scanning process on the set time. You can easily avail this software from the market. Internet is another option that may help you get an antivirus tool. You can download such software from various sites on internet; you may get this software for free or at a nominal cost.

When it comes to viruses and malware, a lot of people get afraid of its harmful effects on the computer performance. It is true that viruses and malware pose a great deal of threats to the computer, but the users can fix it.

1. Install an antivirus program

Obtain antivirus software to prevent infection from viruses and other malware. Viruses and malware are words used to describe malicious software that have been created for unscrupulous means ranging from putting annoying messages on your computer to stealing all your computer files and or credit card and banking information. Due to the risk severity that malware presents it is highly encouraged that anyone without antivirus or internet security software gets some. Once you have antivirus protection software remember to scan your computer at least once a week for viruses.

2. Password management

A lot of online services are protected only by a simple password. Email access, online banking, chat programs, and social networking sites to name a few. When you do a password reset request for a service it is sent to your email account. In other words if your email account is compromised so is many of your other services that used that email address to sign up. Protecting your email account from being compromised is extremely important, so I highly recommend your email password be very strong containing a combination of numbers, letters and other alphanumeric characters and that it also be unique.

3. Windows Operating System updates

Security holes in the Windows Operating System are found occasionally and can be used to compromise your computers security. Microsoft however generally gets on top of these security risks and releases security patches and updates to fix any of these problems.

To make sure you have the latest updates do the following (Windows XP instructions):

Click on Start and then;
Click Control Panel;
Select Security Centre;
Check that in the section called Automatic Updates it says ‘On’, otherwise click the button ‘Turn on Automatic Updates’

4. Any Important files on your computer? Back them up!

Imagine you that you are a University student and you have just finished a 100 page major assignment. Now before you can print it out your computer fails, and you have lost all your files stored on the computer. None of those files are backed up – they are gone for good. This has not happened to me, but it’s likely some unfortunate person out there has had this happen. If you don’t want to lose a report for work, school assignments or some other important files then get a portable storage device or rewritable CD and backup your files.
