  1. MS Essentials has only been used by me on machines that were not my own, so
I cannot judge it properly, however from what I did see, MS Essentials was
a fairly light resource footprint scanner that worked fairly well. Avira
was my alternate to AVG, as you can completely uninstall the real time
protection, making it a on demand scanner only, however, Avira INSISTS on
updating when it wants (there is no way to disable automatic updates) so I
feel AVG allows for the most customization over the two

  2. The version of SpyBot I use is the one from years back (I don’t care for
the new version, too bloatey and too system-controlling.) My version of
SpyBot has that terrible TeaTimer that’s supposed to prevent unwanted
system modifications from taking place: it causes system stability issues
on my machines. Provided I do not install TeaTimer however, SpyBot is
wonderful. I myself never tried Malwarebytes. If ever this version of
SpyBot is no longer supported, I’ll check out Malwarebytes.

  3. Thanks. How about the free Malwarebytes as opposed to Spybot? While the
free Malwarebytes is very limited to manual updates and scans, I have used
it and it seems very dependable, robust, and fairly fast. I used Spybot
several years ago and uninstalled it because of some problem I had with it.
I don’t remember exactly what the problem was. I think it was interfering
with other programs. Is the new version rather trouble free? Btw, I’m using
the 2013 AVG and it seems ok. It does require caution.

  5. Whenever I start up my Windows Vista computer, I get a little bubble in the
bottom right corner that says “There are multiple security problems with
your computer.” Whenever I mouse over it it says “Windows Security Alerts.”
Neither MSE nor MBAM are finding any viruses. Is this a rogue?

  6. It did’nt fix my antivirus problem but it fixed my another grave problem so
thank you very much for that.

  7. Hi, Try combofix or hitman pro. Also, this message will display if you have
no anti-virus installed… We use AVG free
